AVAILABLE LIGHT / SHADOWS - Unit 2 Part 3

.1 Available Light and Shadows: I focused on lines and shadows  using available light. For Inside shots, this involved waiting for the right time time of day when sufficient light came through a window to shine on the subject at hand. For daytime shots, this involved the right light to form a shadow on the subject at hand. These shots include mask lighting, split lighting and 3 quarter lighting

.1, 2.2   I used my Nikon D700 full frame camera, using a Nikon Ed lens of 28-200mm.  for the purpose of using available light through a window

.1, 3.2 I took 11 photos that show different levels of ISO. I think that the photos taken with ISO 1600 and 2000 show the best light for these photos. The first shot was taken in my kitchen, where the natural light shone through from the garden and created shadows of the cutlery on the kitchen counter. The second shot was taken in a Starbucks, where the natural light shone through and created lines against the wall and also masked the side of the lady's face. Then I experimented with a bottle and put it on the window ledge. I moved the bottle around in different positions to create different effects, such as mask lighting, split lighting and 3 quarter lighting. It was an interesting assignment and took time and patience to wait for the best time of day for available light.

.1 I used my tripod for these shots to stable the camera, and made sure that the pathway was clear of passers by when I was in the park
